Medicare basics, in plain English

What does Medicare cover?

Medicare covers hospital stays (Part A), doctor visits and outpatient care (Part B), prescription drugs (Part D), and optionally bundles everything into a Medicare Advantage plan (Part C). It does not cover most dental, vision, hearing, or long-term care without supplemental coverage.

When can I enroll in Medicare?

Most people enroll during their Initial Enrollment Period — the 7-month window starting 3 months before their 65th birthday. Missing this window can result in permanent late-enrollment penalties. Special Enrollment Periods apply if you have qualifying employer coverage.

What is the difference between Medicare Advantage and Medicare Supplement?

Medicare Advantage (Part C) replaces Original Medicare with a private plan that often includes dental, vision, and drug coverage. Medicare Supplement (Medigap) works alongside Original Medicare to cover its gaps like copays and deductibles. The right choice depends on your doctors, prescriptions, and how often you travel.

How much does Medicare cost?

The standard Part B premium in 2026 is $185/month. Many Medicare Advantage plans have $0 additional premium. Costs vary by plan, income, and location — a free review with PSG will show you exactly what you would pay.

Do I pay for your services?

No. Insurance companies pay our fee when you enroll through us. Your guidance, plan comparison, and ongoing support are always completely free to you.

Kayla Price, licensed Medicare and insurance agent

Meet Kayla Price

I founded Price Services Group because I believe everyone deserves clear, honest guidance when navigating insurance — without the pressure that too often comes with it. As a mother, a neighbor, and a small business owner in eastern North Carolina, I know firsthand how confusing this world can be.

I'm an independent agent, which means I'm not tied to any single insurance company. I work with the carriers that have the best plans for your situation — whether that's a Medicare Advantage plan that fits your budget or a Medigap policy that lets you see any doctor who accepts Medicare.
